The Israeli Uprooting of
Trees in Palestine; an Eyewitness Account
Christoph Gocke, an
international activist, spoke to a group of supporters of the Arab Group
for the Protection of Nature (APN) at an event held at the Royal
Automobile Club in Amman on Feb.23rd, 2005 about the Israeli uprooting
of trees from the village of Jayyouss in the occupied West Bank, to
which he was a witness.
Gocke, an Eccumenical
Programme accompanier in Palestine and Israel, displayed photos he took
which showed trees uprooted and Israeli bulldozers razing the ground to
prepare for the construction of a Jewish settlement in the area.
On the following day, Gocke visited Amman Wataniya School and the
American Community School where he spoke to students about the uprooting
of trees in Palestine and answered their questions.
