As part of the third Million Tree Campaign, APN in cooperation with the Land Research Center (LRC), has completed a rehabilitation project to restore 50 dunums of agricultural land, construct eight water collection systems, and to plant 2,500 olive trees in the towns of El Kom and Athna, south-west of Hebron, which is adjacent to the Apartheid wall and threatened by its expansion.

This project was made possible through the support and supervision of APN, as well as donations from the listeners of Radio Hayat "FM" made during APN’s full day broadcast on April 20, 2015. The project targeted land which supports nearly 12 farming families in the towns of El Kom and Athna in the Hebron Governorate. APN’s first Million Tree Campaign program was established in 2003, and since then has managed through the contribution APN’s friends and partners to plant 2,152,776 olive and fruit trees, including citrus, almond, palms and other varieties, in all parts of Palestine. During this time, 31 water collection systems for agricultural use were constructed, 170 dunums of land were rehabilitated, 109 greenhouses were re-built, 156 fishing nets were purchased for fishermen in the Gaza Strip, and 453,500 assorted vegetables were planted in order to provide faster revenue for farmers. So far, APN’s projects within the Million Tree Campaign in Palestine have met the needs of 23,398 farmer-headed households, helping a total number of 180,719 individuals   For More photos:
