Plantation of Palm Tree Saplings in the Northern Jordan Valley

.

Plantation of palm tree saplings in the northern Jordan valley area, a project initiated by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, aims to support Palestinian farmers who are facing Israeli assaults and encroachment on their lands.

The project is being implemented in conjunction with the Palestinian Farmers Union and financed by a 77,406 dollar grant provided by the Qatari Eitilaf El-Khair Organization.

It involves planting 1500 saplings in a 100-dunum area owned by 50 Palestinian farmers. 210 saplings were planted in the first phase of the process.
The project aims at encouraging plantation of palm trees due to their economic and environmental benefits and assisting Palestinian farmers to hold on to their lands.

Farmers pay 25% of the value of the sapling which costs 60 dollars. The remaining 75% of the total amount is donated by Eitilaf El-Khair.
The Union has conducted workshops and training courses to acquaint farmers with all aspects of the plantation process.
