APN discusses Palestine at the 27th session of the Human Rights Council

President of APN Razan Zuaiter was invited to participate in the 27th session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva from 18-26 September 2014. The session consisted of daily workshops covering ten key topics in addition to side activities and specialized meetings.

APN and Standard Chartered Bank support food security with planting 500 olive trees

In collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality and the support of Standard Chartered Bank, on Saturday 20 September 2014, APN cultivated 500 olive trees in the garden of Khalid ibn al-Walid in the south of Marka in Amman to enhance food security for the people of the region.

APN embraces the Environment Zone – New Think Festival 2014

After much effort and preparation, APN embraced Environment Zone at the New Think Festival. The festival took place between 5-6 September 2014 at the King Husain Business Park. Nearly 13,000 people attended the festival during the two days, mostly young people and students between the ages of 15-35 years.

The first negotiating session on the Agenda for Action for Addressing Food Insecurity in Protracted Crises at the Committee on World Food Security

With APN’s lead global civil society participated in the first session of negotiations for the Agenda for Action for Addressing Food Insecurity in Protracted Crises at the Food and Agriculture Organization headquarters in Rome from July 29 - August 1, 2014. Representatives of civil society made many interventions and influenced the course of negotiations. Members were able to make many alliances with organizations and individuals in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

APN’s celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Right to Food

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Right to Food by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council, President of APN, Mrs. Razan Zuaiter was invited to participate in the consultative meeting of civil society on the achievements and challenges of their application.

APN participated in an emergency meeting of the Committee on World Food Security’s Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) Coordination Committee from July 21 to 23, 2014 at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome.

Civil society preparatory meeting for negotiations of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS)

APN organized a preparatory meeting for the Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) on July 27 to 28, 2014 in Rome to approve the interventions that were given by the CSM during the CFS session on the Agenda for Action Addressing Food Security in Protracted Crises to be ratified by member states in October 2015.

APN was invited to participate in the Arab Consultative Meeting on Accountability Framework for the Post-2015 Development Agenda, held in Tunisia between 15-16 of September 2014. The meeting was organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

Head of APN meets with officials at the Qatar Charity

On the 10th of September, President of APN Razan Zuaiter and environmental activist Hassan Jaajaa met with the director of the Department of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Abd Rabi bin Sahra, to discuss future cooperation between APN and Qatar Charity. 

Annual general meeting

On Tuesday, 9 September 2014 APN held its annual meeting for 2013 in the presence of 16 members of the general assembly, members of the board of directors, the working group, and APN’s auditor from Talal Abu-Ghazaleh& Company.

Media Views: New Think Festival

APN was a guest of the Dardashat television program during the activities at the New Think Festival. Razan Zuaiter represented the group in a panel discussion titled "To Feed Ourselves or Wait to be Feed". Former Minister of Agriculture Dr. Mahmoud Douiri and farmer from the Jordan Valley Jamal Masalha, were also panelists.

APN participates in a specialized course for GIS for Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation

Volunteer Maha Huwaidi participated in an introductory course for GIS for Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluating held by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN -ROWA) at the Kempinski Hotel in Aqaba August 31 to September 3, 2014.  Sixteen participants from Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine attended the session.

APN begins preparations for the celebration of the Third Million Trees Campaign launch

APN has begun preparing for its annual ceremony which will celebrate the end of the first two Million Trees Campaigns in Palestine and the launch of the third campaign.Donations will be collected for the implementation of APN’s relief campaign to support the agricultural sector in the Gaza Strip after the events of the last assault which caused damage in excess of 550 million dollars to the agricultural sector alone in the Gaza Strip. 

Zuaiter held a meeting with the Young Friends of APN

Razan Zuaiter met with a group of young volunteers who call themselves the Young Friends of APN in Qatar on 29 September 2014 to coordinate efforts to support the group’s emergency campaign for the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector in the Gaza Strip.

APN participates in new amendments to the Jordanian Environment Protection Act

APN was invited by the Jordan Federation for Environmental NGOs to discuss the draft of the new Environmental Protection Act being issued by the Ministry of Environment.

APN in search of new sites for the Green Caravan

The Board of Directors has decided that APN should target a number of sites in Jordan for long-term projects lasting three to five years.
