Canadian radio station "Sauga 960 AM" hosted Rami Barhoush – Vice Chairman of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, to speak on the effects of the occupation’s arrogance and abuse on the change in climate, agriculture, and food sovereignty in Palestine, in addition to the challenges and obstacles faced by Palestinian farmers, and the civil society’s endeavours to protect farmers, the environment, and land conservation. (27 August 2021)
Barhoush showed through the English interview the severity of the injustice on which the Zionist entity was built, saying: “(Israel) was established in 1948 at a huge cost paid by the Palestinian people who suffered from the destruction of more than 500 villages and towns, leaving thousands as refugees, unable to get back to their homes till this day.”
He continued: “The Palestinians lost their homes, shops, factories, libraries, and schools. However, they were an agrarian society to begin with, exporting Yafa’s oranges to Europe, and olive oil to other Arab cities”. He added that the occupation targeted Palestinians’ ability to survive and sustain themselves and their families as agricultural people who tie their existence to their stay on their lands.
