The Royal Film Commission hosted APN Scientific Committee Director, Hassan Al-Jaajaa, to speak following a viewing of the film The Golden Harvest, which narrates the six thousand year relationship between the peoples of the region and the olive tree.

Al-Jaajaa praised the film and its treatment of the social, spiritual, scientific, and economic aspects of the olive tree, adding, “the olive tree was and is an icon that unites the people."

He explained that the 24 million olive trees in Jordan are the most numerous fruit tree type in the country, whose varieties are some of the most successful in the world. Thousands of Jordanian families depend on the trees for their basic income.

Al-Jaajaa summarized APNs tree planting projects, which have led to more than two and a half million fruitful trees to date. He explained that the association was born after witnessing a painful scene on television during the second intifada showing a Palestinian farmer removing the perennial olives that his grandfather had planted through his tears. APN started work after discovering that the occupation waged a systematic war against the land and trees, which culminated in an uprooted tree every minute.

The film director Alia Younes attended the event moderated by Shadi Al-Nimri.
