In commemoration of World Environment Day, APN in partnership with Capital Bank, planted 500 diverse fruit trees in Al-Kashef area in Badr as part of its ongoing efforts to support Jordanian smallholder farmers and promote environmental sustainability.

The initiative was implemented in cooperation with Asayel Badr Association as part of APN's Green Caravan programme. It also marks the fifth consecutive year of partnership between APN and Capital Bank in implementing development projects that contribute to supporting local communities and strengthening food security.

The activity aims to support farming families and improve their livelihoods by providing a sustainable source of income through long-term agricultural projects. It also contributes to enhancing the economic and social stability of farmers while supporting food sovereignty and protecting agricultural land and natural resources in the area.

A number of Capital Bank employees took part in the tree-planting activities alongside APN’s team and members of the local community, demonstrating the importance of volunteerism in supporting environmental and development initiatives and raising awareness of sustainable practices.

The newly planted trees are expected to sequester the equivalent of approximately 11 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, creating a tangible environmental impact that highlights the importance of expanding fruit tree cultivation and its role in enhancing ecosystems' capacity to absorb carbon and improve air quality.

Capital Bank reaffirmed that supporting environmental and community initiatives is a core component of the bank's responsibility toward society and the environment. The bank noted that its employees' participation reflects the value of collective action and volunteerism in advancing environmental causes, raising awareness of the importance of conserving natural resources, encouraging sustainable practices, supporting smallholder farmers, and generating a lasting positive impact on local communities.
