Through APN’s “If Only You Knew” programme, volunteers led an interactive, hands-on session with first-grade students at the Modern American School on the essentials of agriculture and environmental stewardship. The presentation aimed to spark a lasting curiosity and appreciation for the natural world in a way that young learners could connect with.
Students explored the life-giving role of trees, including how they purify the air, provide food and shade, and green our daily lives, while also learning about the most common tree species in Jordan. Volunteers shared practical guidance on nurturing and protecting these trees to ensure they remain healthy and productive for generations to come.
By weaving together stories, questions, and interactive exercises, the session invited the active participation of students, eager to share their insights and observations. The workshop concluded with an exercise connecting agriculture to food security and food sovereignty, helping students understand how caring for the land directly shapes the food that reaches their tables. The session reinforced the notion that cultivating environmental responsibility begins with small, meaningful actions, an idea every child can take home, practice and grow.
