As part of our “Revive Gaza’s Farmland” Project, we completed the rehabilitation of a vital water well in Gaza City, in partnership with Gaza Municipality, naming it "Al Wafa Well". The restored well now provides a crucial water source for Al Wafa Hospital and around 4,000 residents, while also enabling the future operation of a desalination station linked to the project.
At the official inauguration, 7 dunums of land served by the well were planted: three dunums with fast-growing vegetables and five dunums with 100 olive trees. The initiative supports immediate food security while advancing the long-term, sovereign revival of Gaza's food-producing capacities amid the occupation’s impunitive ceasefire violations and blockade of food and essential inputs of production.
The ceremony brought together representatives from the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, Gaza Municipality, the Gaza Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Al Wafa Hospital, a committee from the local community and the Union of Agricultural Engineers, reflecting broad local support of this life-sustaining initiative.
In addition, APN drilled a water well in central Gaza, serving 50 agricultural dunums, and implemented four projects to extend water pipelines, benefiting approximately 30 agricultural dunums and 3,800 individuals.
