APN Chairperson of the Board and President of ANFS Razan Zuayter said that the experiences of Arab countries which entered into normalization treaties with the Israeli entity (the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, and Egypt) are witness to the deceit of the occupation. Treaties were signed under the precedent that there will be development in the economic, tourism, and agricultural sectors. In reality, those sectors have collapsed in those very countries while 'Israel' continues to Judaize and legalize its colonization of Palestine.

Hala Marshood, a researcher in the field of political economy, Amani Khalifa, a community organizer at the Jerusalem Popular Roots Foundation, and Sultan Alamer, the Saudi writer and activist all took part in the seminar.

Zuayter spoke about what she described as the "illusions" of normalization and the "agreements of despair". She also spoke about the critical role of people, organizations, and social movements in light of the unprecedented Arab race towards normalization with the occupation and the frustration of people in the Arab world as a result.

Results of the Oslo Agreement of 1993 indicate that core issues remain pending until today, such as refugees, Jerusalem, and the expansion of settlements. According to Zuayter, Israeli injustice prevailed as a result of the agreement, as did the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and the people of countries which normalized.

Zuayter explained that the size of settlement expansion increased by 4 times, from 144 to 515 settlements. The number of settlers reached 834,000 while it was around 252,000 before signing the Oslo Agreement. Also, 839 barriers have been established inside the West Bank. Food security was 90% in 1967, 20% in 1993, and now the rate of food insecurity is 30%. Zuayter added that "from 2009 to 2016 'Israel' demolished 4,000 buildings in the West Bank, and there are 12,500 buildings awaiting demolition."

Zuayter said that Jordan is now living the outcomes of the deception that took place at the Wadi Araba Agreement in 1994. Jordan reached a debt amounting to $42 billion (referring to the size of the economic decline) while it was awaiting the fulfilment of Israeli and American promises of an economic revolution following the agreement. What happened was the opposite. The Wadi Araba Agreement promised a boom in the agricultural sector in Jordan. In reality, however, Israel began to compete with Jordanian products and attempted to profit by selling Israeli products in Jordan. Israel commits acts of vandalism which jeopardize the food basket in Jordan, such as igniting fires which extend to the Jordan Valley and releasing wild pigs which spoil crops. Israel also steals water from the Jordan and Yarmouk rivers and artesian wells.

Zuayter said that we must confront the psychological war that is being waged against Arab people, which seeks to dispel people's self-confidence and our ability to resist. She warned of the methods the occupation and its allies use to try to brainwash people and spread psychological defeat through various social media. She says that we must not fall into traps set up to promote internal sectarian, regional, religious or factional strife.

She noted that it is important to transform anger into action through institutionalized and sustainable planning and collective action, stressing that means of resistance have been made available by active people and groups. She called the boycott of Israeli goods an effective means in the framework of resistance action. She moreover advocated for states to be able to produce their own food, which, in turn, will give them sovereignty over political decisions so that they will not be forced into humiliating agreements.

Zuayter gave the example of APN's work as a form of resistance. She described their work as "green resistance", stating that APN started very small and now it has thousands of volunteers all over the Arab world. APN, she says, started with the simple idea of planting trees and results have been tremendous. In 17 years, the Million Tree Campaign (MTC) in Palestine has planted 2.5 million trees, which have supported 28,000 farmers and their communities, which amount to 200,000 people. In addition to planting hundreds of thousands of vegetable seedlings, APN implemented projects which support sheepherders, beekeepers, and fishers in Gaza.
