APN | Al Nassariya
22 September 2025
In response to urgent appeals from farmers in Al Nassariya, APN launched an initiative to strengthen their sumud (steadfastness) against the occupation’s unceasing violations. Supported by Ghiath and Nadia Sukhtian through the Million Tree Campaign, 400 fruit trees were planted in the village to safeguard against land confiscation and support agricultural livelihoods.
Situated northeast of Nablus at the gateway to the Central Jordan Valley, Al Nassariya spans 8,203 dunams, with 5,573 dunams dedicated to agriculture. Holding fast to its deep-rooted agricultural identity, the village has endured years of the occupation’s tactics to dismantle its farming sector.
This takes shape through the occupation’s well-worn playbook of making the village unlivable — military checkpoints and bypass roads choke residents’ movement and isolate the community. Moreover, settlers from the Elon Moreh settlement to the west routinely discharge wastewater onto the village’s farmland, devastating large swathes of crops.
Over the past five years, the situation has worsened with the expansion of settlement outposts and a significant decline in essential services. These conditions have inflicted heavy losses on farmers, who continue to endure repeated assaults on their land, livestock, and water sources. Yet despite colonial attacks on Palestinian life and livelihood, we continue to plant life and defiance.
