A delegation from APN, including the Chairperson, General Manager, and Agricultural Advisor, visited the Sudanese Embassy in Jordan to meet with Ambassador Hassan Saleh Hassan Siwar Al Dahab. They delivered a joint statement issued by APN in collaboration with 81 Arab and international organisations, expressing unwavering solidarity with the Sudanese people amid the ongoing conflict and deepening humanitarian crisis.
The statement called for immediate protection of civilians and the implementation of all necessary political and security measures to secure lasting and just peace across Sudan’s states. It urged the creation of independent mechanisms to monitor humanitarian aid, prevent the weaponisation of food, and ensure safe corridors under UN oversight.
It stressed the urgent need to end external interventions, uphold Sudanese sovereignty, hold accountable those fueling the conflict, and initiate immediate investigations to prosecute perpetrators committing serious violations against civilians under international law. The statement also called for a substantial increase in international funding to support relief operations and food security, alongside sustainable recovery initiatives aimed at preventing economic and humanitarian collapse. Special emphasis was placed on restoring Sudan’s agricultural sector so as to rebuild local food systems and secure community livelihoods.
During the meeting, both sides discussed concrete avenues for APN to provide targeted support to Sudan during this critical period, reinforcing the vital role of civil society in standing for justice wherever the need arises.
