APN continued its Green Caravan journey through planting 200 different fruit-bearing trees (orange, pomeley, clementina, lemon, and olive), in the Blawneh region - Central Jordan Valley on Thursday, 10 October.

The Green Caravan, one of APN’s major programs, aims to empower Jordanian farmers, increase the green cover and reduce desertification. This activity was coordinated alongside Nawa Initiative and was attended by 20 volunteers who planted Mahmoud Al-Alawneh’s land.

The promoter of this initiative, who preferred to remain anonymous, donated the full cost of trees and participated in planting.  She explained that she initiated this activity for her brother’s spirit who died as a fetus in the womb of his mother. She also stated that these initiatives had positive impacts on farmers for providing them with a sustainable income as well as volunteers who experienced a sense of purpose. Mohammad Qtaishat, APN’s Project Manager, accompanied the volunteers during the activity and provided them with necessary guidance for planting.
