The vice president of Princess Sumaya University Dr. Bassam Hamu, gave APN’s Chairperson of the Board, Eng. Razan Zuayter, a donation to the campaign “Plant your Resilience” in its fifth season, which is one of the campaigns of the “Million Tree Campaign” in Palestine.

Moreover, Dr. Hamu offered in the presence of the dean of students affairs Dr. Rami Salem, and with coordination with the Jerusalem Committee in the University a donation in the name of the University to sponsor planting 360 fruit trees, to be planted in occupied Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip to support the farmers and their families to achieve food security in accordance with a sustainable vision.

The dean of Students Affairs Dr. Rami Salem said that the students of the University consider this campaign to be a part of their belonging and national sentiments towards their brothers and sisters in the occupied Palestinian territories, and represents participation by the university students in serving the community.

Zuayter thanked the University for its participation in APN’s campaigns, and she presented an overview of the agricultural activities in Palestine under the Million Tree Campaign, and in Jordan within the framework of the Green Caravan programme, in addition to the Food Sovereignty programme which is concerned with highlighting the issue of regional food security and influencing the policies related to it at local, regional and international forums, and finally the “If Only You Knew” programme which targets school and university students and aims to spread awareness of agricultural and environmental issues. Furthermore, Zuayter called for enriching the partnership between APN and Princess Sumayya University, and the importance of linking the academic dimension with voluntary work.

The encounter was attended by a group of administrative staff and university students from the Jerusalem Committee who organized the fundraising campaign.
