APN received an invitation from the Coordinating Secretariat of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement – Yemen to participate in the first national gathering for Yemeni food partners, held in Amman.

This historic gathering marked a significant milestone as it brought together the Yemeni Ministry of Planning, the Secretariat, relevant technical teams from Yemen, and various United Nations organizations.

During the conference sessions, a comprehensive assessment was conducted to evaluate the coordination mechanisms, planning processes, implementation strategies, and collaborative financing approaches for nutrition interventions. The primary objective was to develop a roadmap that establishes a unified mechanism among all stakeholders engaged in nutrition-related initiatives in Yemen.

Upon the organizers' request, Hassan Al Jaajaa, APN Agricultural Advisor and a member of the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty (ANFS), delivered an important intervention. He emphasized the significance of diversity within Yemeni society, highlighting that national unity is crucial and that the foremost national program should be built upon civil peace as a prerequisite for development. Al Jaajaa further emphasized that Yemen, once reconstructed, has the potential to become a donor state.

We extend our admiration for the remarkable spirit that filled this gathering, wherein APN presented a special gift to the participants. This gift entailed planting a tree in Palestine on behalf of every participant, symbolizing the advocacy for civil peace in Yemen and conveying a message of love to all Yemenis.
