In the southern region of Amman, specifically Al-Amiriyah in Al-Jizah, innovative farmers have adopted the concept of natural dams - a collection tank designed to retain rainwater and moisture during late summer. This traditional water harvesting approach significantly reduces the reliance on external water sources for agriculture, as approximately 95% of their water needs are met through the preservation of rainwater.

This construction reflects the remarkable determination of the community to utilize their agricultural land effectively. They achieve this by constructing earthen dams to ensure water harvesting before the winter. This strategy allows them to reap the benefits of stored water during the agricultural season, which is particularly advantageous given the area's agricultural nature.

This inspiring initiative caught the attention of APN, prompting us to extend our support to the local community by planting 200 stone fruits and olive trees, contributed by Cedar Maritime Agencies, as part of the Green Caravan programme. Planting these pest-resistant trees will significantly improve food security for three families facing challenging conditions, as their lands have been neglected for an extended period.
