The Arab Union for Food Industries and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) have invited Razan Zuayter, APN Chairperson of the Board and founder of the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty, and the co-chair of the People's Coalition for Food Sovereignty (PCFS), to participate in the 2023 Arab Bread Day seminar under the slogan "Our Bread, Our Health, Our Planet's Sustainability."
The seminar is an annual celebration by the Arab Union for Food Industries on Arab Bread Day, which falls on July 16th and commemorates the first Arab Grain Industry Conference held by the Union in Jordan in 1984. The conference addressed the reality of bread and grain industries.
During her intervention, Zuayter emphasized that the lack of political will is the root cause of the decline in wheat cultivation in our countries. She proposed the implementation of a comprehensive regional strategy for wheat cultivation to achieve food sovereignty in the Arab world.
