On October 14, 2020, APN continued to carry out the Green Caravan program with the beginning of a new growing season in Jordan. APN planted 1,000 olive trees in the town of Balama in Mafraq. The trees were courtesy of Bank al Etihad which donated 2,500 trees to the program.

The Green Caravan program seeks to enhance food security by empowering small-scale Jordanian farmers and increasing the green cover in Jordan. Since the program started in 2003, it has succeeded in planting more than 110,000 trees throughout the Kingdom.

APN General Manager Mariam Al Jaajaa said that the organization is putting a lot of effort in carrying out the Green Caravan program this season as it has done in previous years, especially with the circumstances that the world is going through after the COVID-19 pandemic. She stressed that she is proud of the partnership with Bank al Etihad, which has been instrumental in allowing agricultural activities to continue at a time when the pandemic has revealed how important the agricultural sector is in enhancing food security.

The cooperation between APN and Bank al Etihad contributes to reducing more than 55 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Such an impact complements the social responsibility scheme of Bank al Etihad who are committed to achieving Goal 13 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is related to combating climate change and its impacts.
