The partnership between APN and Vileda has resulted in planting around 4,000 new fruit trees and 2,000 new vegetable seedlings dotting most of the kingdom’s cities and governorates this year (including Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun, Salt-Subaihi, Zarqa, Tafila, Karak, and the southern and central Jordan Valley).

The plantings cover an area of over 100 dunums, stretching over the lands of 250 farmers. The initiative is part of APN’s Green Caravan program which seeks to help farmers overcome the burdens that threaten their ability to continue farming their lands.  General director of APN, Mariam al-Jaajaa, credited Vileda for alleviating some of the suffering of farmers during Jordan’s covid lockdowns, as a significant portion of the trees and seeds were distributed around these times.

The Green Caravan program enhances national food security and works on increasing green spaces in the Kingdom. Over 110,000 trees have been planted in Jordan since 2003.
