Carob House invited APN General Manager, Mariam Al Jaajaa, to speak at a seminar on food sovereignty and liberation alongside a group of speakers including Alia Nusseibeh, Hanan Elayyan and Rakan Mihyar.
During the talk, Al Jaajaa highlighted APN's role as a green liberation movement, resisting settler colonialism in Palestine. This resistance involves the strengthening and rehabilitation of the agricultural and food sectors while combatting various forms of neo-colonialism. The latter has transformed our once productive and agricultural Arab societies into dependent markets relying on imports and foreign aid. This situation jeopardizes our sovereignty over our food and, consequently, our sovereignty over decision-making.
Al Jaajaa emphasized the crucial role each individual plays in resisting the political-economic colonial system. This involves either joining existing movements or creating new initiatives that explore innovative forms of resistance. Moreover, the key lies in collective collaboration under unified, long-term strategies, transcending immediate and shortsighted reactions.
Carob House is an initiative dedicated to regenerative ecological agriculture, aiming to establish an educational space for the local community.
