On Wednesday 13th July, APN organized a side event, entitled “Addressing Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises” at the ECOSOC High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development being held at the UN headquarters in New York between 11th-20th July, 2016.
Rami Barhoush, president of APN, chaired the meeting which welcomed distinguished speakers from the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) Secretariat, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, Al-Haq, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), as well as APN Advocacy Officer Heather Elaydi. Under the theme of the HLPF, “No one left behind”, the side event aimed to promote the Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises, which was endorsed in October 2015 by the UN Committee on World Food Security in Rome, targeting communities living in protracted conflict, war, occupation, and natural disaster.
