APN | Jerash and the Central Badia
14 and 17 October 2023
Acknowledging the growing local interest in agriculture, APN and its gold sponsor, Zain Telecom, carried out two tree-planting activities, leading to the planting of 400 fruit trees from a total of 1,000 trees.
The two activities aimed to improve the well-being of families from the local community, as they strive to secure their needs for oil, olives, and other fruits. The objective is to enhance their annual income through the yields of these trees, particularly in regions distant from Jordan’s capital. In such areas where local opportunities are diminishing, agriculture serves as a crucial means to ensure a decent quality of life.
In Balila town in Jerash governorate, the Green Caravan, with the participation of Zain’s employees, planted 200 olive, cherry, apricot, peach, and grape trees for Nurse Hisham. Motivated to utilize his available time, Nurse Hisham aimed to restore his orchard.
In Al Jizah, located south of Amman, particularly in the Central Badia region, APN and Zain planted 200 olive and fig trees known for their resilience to the region's limited rainfall. This activity was carried out for teachers Jibril and Zaid, who chose to remain on their land rather than migrating to the city. They seamlessly connected their morning teaching profession with afternoon agricultural activities, embodying an integrated form of sustainable development.
