The General Assembly of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) met on the 10th of November in 2013. President of the Board of Directors Razan Zuayter presented a report outlining the group’s achievements and projects completed in 2012 which include:

• Planting 139.349 olive and fruit trees in several areas in Palestine through a number of projects including Wadi al-Maleh , Hayat FM,  Green Nation ,and  Jerusalem Suburbs .

• Cultivating Hadeeqat al Atfal  (The Children’s Park) in the area of Abu Bina in Tafila , and cultivating the Baseera Charity Association with 1500 olive and fruit trees, in addition to the distribution of trees to farmers affected by the process of frost and drought in collaboration with Aramex and the Ministry of Social Development .

•Organizing 35 lectures within the If You Know campaign which aims to spread awareness among school students and introduce them to the environmental challenges in Jordan and the importance of agriculture and planting trees to increase green areas and enhance food security.

•Organizing a number of regional and international consultative workshops such as the 1st Meeting of the Arab Network for Food Sovereignty - Beirut, The Middle East and North Africa Regional Consultative Workshop on Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries - Oman, The Side Event on Conflict, Climate Change and Human Rights at the Climate Change Conference COP- Qatar, The Civil Society Consultation on Food Insecurity in Protracted Crises – Rome 

• Participating in many conferences and international forums including :  The International Conference of La Via Campesina - Indonesia, The 39th Session of the Committee on World Food Security –Rome the Annual International Civil Society Mechanism- Rome , and The High Level Expert Forum on Protracted Crises- Rome The Chief Financial Officer of APN and the auditor of the Talal Abu -Ghazaleh Company presented the financial report and balance sheet of APN for the year 2012 which got the approval of the assembly.The assembly discussed proposed amendments to the statute, which was prepared by lawyers Omar el-Tawil and Mohammed Omar on a voluntary basis. The amendments were accepted at the end of the meeting so that they may be sent to the Ministry of Environment. 

The council agreed on the nomination of Mr. Humam Mufti for the vacant position and he became a part of the Board of Directors. You can check the Annual Report for the year 2012 by clicking on the picture or the link below.
