APN condemned the announcement by Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, regarding his intentions on adding the Jordan Valley (Palestine’s food basket) into his list of lands usurped by the occupation if re-selected in the Israeli elections today (September 17).

Rami Barhoush, Chairman of APN’s Board, condemned Netanyahu's electoral promise in the strongest terms, pointing out that this is blatant evidence of the expansionist ambitions of "Israel" in the region coupled with persistent attempts to abolish the Palestinian cause in flagrant violations of all international laws.

Barhoush added that Netanyahu's declaration proves the continuation of “Israel’s” systematic war against agricultural land, stating that this war should provoke all organizations seeking to improve food sovereignty in the region. This is due to the fact that the Jordan Valley, which sits above the most important water basin in Palestine, is one of the most fertile areas that can be invested for agriculture throughout the year.
