Palestinian cities and villages are facing an escalating campaign of settlement expansion, as occupation authorities work to enlarge colonial infrastructure and outposts to suffocate access to land and resources, aiming to permanently displace Palestinians. This is compounded by the destruction and uprooting of trees, alongside the emboldening of settlers to carry out vicious attacks against Palestinian communities and the land that sustains them.
In response, APN continues its on-the-ground interventions, steadfast in the belief that supporting farmers in targeted areas constitutes the first line of defense against settlement expansion. These efforts provide Palestinian farmers with the means to strengthen their steadfastness, produce their own food, remain on their land, and resist its confiscation.
During the first quarter of 2026, we launched new projects carried out by our team in Palestine to plant 8,580 fruit trees across villages at critical risk of annexation. Over a series of agricultural activities, the project has so far achieved the planting of 7,664 fruit trees across 189.5 dunums. These lands are owned by 69 farmers supporting approximately 483 family members.
Key achievements include:
Planting 2,000 stonefruit trees, supported by Hikma Pharmaceuticals, across 47.5 dunums with 16 farmers in northeast Hebron, supporting 98 family members.
Planting 4,419 fruit trees – including stonefruit, grapes, and figs – across 110 dunums for 39 farmers supporting 275 family members, in collaboration with various partners.
Planting 645 fruit trees in the areas of Jorat Al-Sham‘a in Bethlehem and Halhul–Hebron across 14 dunums, benefiting 4 farmers who support 25 family members.
Planting 500 fruit trees, including grapes and stonefruit, across 14 dunums with 8 farmers who provide for 68 family members in the town of Sa’ir, with support from Samir Abdulhadi.
Planting 100 stone fruit trees across 4 dunums for two farmers supporting 17 family members in the town of Al-Shuyukh, in collaboration with Olive Foam.
