A delegation from APN took part in the seventh session of the annual conference of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) under the title "Food Security in the Arab World", which was held at Le Meridian Hotel Amman between 26-27 of November in 2014.

This conference was organized in cooperation between FAO, ESCWA, ICARDA, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.APN President, Razan Zuayter, was invited to give a lecture in the session on "Civil Society Initiatives in Food Security,” that focus on the Million Tree Campaign launched by APN in Palestine to support the steadfastness of the farmers on their land.The Arab Forum for Environment and Development issued a report on "Food Security-Challenges and Prospects" at the conference, to provide an overview of the state of agriculture in Arab countries, and to discuss the possibility of strengthening the land and water efficiency to improve food security.

The report combined case studies and lessons learned from different countries and sectors and actors involved in the promotion of food security in the Arab region. APN has been invited to share an article on its achievements in the face of food insecurity and malnutrition in protracted crises and conflicts, specifically through the Million Tree Campaign in Palestine. The conference brought together 750 participants from 54 countries, representing governments, companies, international and regional organizations and bodies, agricultural investment, universities, research centres, NGOs, and the media.In one of her interventions, Zuayter commended the important initiative by the Arab Forum for Environment and Development to discuss and raise the issue of food insecurity in the Arab world, stressing the need for better representation of both gender and civil society out of the speakers, stressing also that only through Arab integration can food security and sovereignty over resources be achieved in the Arab region.
