The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), along with the generous support of Mrs. Reem Hejjawi, planted 5200 seedless grape trees in the villages of Bardla, Nasriya and Faroush Beit Dajan of the Palestinian Valleys to support Palestinian farmers.

Mrs. Hejjawi also contributed to the construction of three agricultural wells in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Hebron. These wells serve lands with an estimated area of more than 28000 square meters. The size of each well is estimated at 80 cubic meters, all of which will be used for agricultural purposes and other uses in household and aid farmers in fostering sheep and chicken.

Mariam Al Jaajaa, the general manager of APN, declared “This contribution will enable 28 farmers who support more than 158 families, to produce more than 156 tons of grapes after the third year of agriculture. It will significantly improve their income and provide actual development for them and their families, hence, supporting their stability  and resilience on their land.

Al Jaajaa added that one of the bright aspects of this project is that part of its payoff will return to the Alluqluq Charitable Association in Jerusalem, where APN planted 2,200 trees as part of the project on land belonging to the association, which will help the association achieve its development goals within the city of Jerusalem.

Eng. Razan Zuayter, APN Chairman of the Board, said that finishing this project, which is part of a series of initiatives by Mrs. Reem Hejjawi to support Palestinian resilience is a promising initiative in which landowners will benefit from. In return this will increase their attachment to the land. Such a goal is supported by APN and considered to be an integral part of its mission.
