Ain Jnaim, the ancient Canaanite name for Jenin, carries the meaning of "Spring of Gardens," highlighting the land's historical fertility and agricultural significance. In response to the ongoing challenges and systematic attacks from occupation forces, APN has prioritized Jenin as a focal point in our efforts to safeguard the land from confiscation and provide a sustainable economic resource for our people. To this end, we have embarked on a significant project to plant 20,000 trees encompassing various varieties such as olives, stone fruits, pomegranates, figs, and grapes. This expansive initiative covers an area of 1,015 dunums, strategically aimed at bolstering the resilience of 189 agricultural families comprising 1,386 individuals. Through these endeavors, we aim to preserve the agricultural reality of Jenin, allowing it to thrive and provide a source of sustainable livelihood for its residents.

The planting and distribution of trees occurred in multiple stages throughout the agricultural season of 2023. These efforts were focused on lands that faced the imminent threat of confiscation, falling under the classification of Area C. Notably, tree planting took place in highly sensitive areas adjacent to settlements, where Palestinians endure sieges and restrictions. These oppressive measures aim to deprive them of vital resources and displace them by specifically targeting their agricultural lands.

According to Razan Zuayter, APN Chairperson of the Board, “the contributions and resilience demonstrated by the people of Jenin warrant global recognition and admiration. The inspiring spirit emanating from this city, even as we find ourselves away from our Palestinian homeland, instills in us a sense of strength and unwavering determination. Through our programme, the Million Tree Campaign in Palestine, we continuously strive to empower the people of Jenin in their quest for sovereignty over their land and food. It is our collective responsibility to unite and fulfill our duty in rebuilding this heroic city, standing together in solidarity”.
