In the face of occupation, colonial policies, and wars imposed on our region, we continued to play an active role in building and mobilising local, regional, and international alliances and partnerships to defend food sovereignty and environmental justice. During the final quarter of the year, we achieved the following:
- After a year of preparation, the International People’s Tribunal on Forced Starvation and Ecocide in Palestine was held in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain), on 22–23 November 2025. The tribunal was launched as an independent initiative by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), the International League of Peoples’ Struggles, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, and the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty, with the support of the International People’s Front (IPF).
- We led the drafting and dissemination of an urgent global appeal calling for immediate international action to halt the unprecedented humanitarian deterioration in Sudan. The statement was signed by 81 Arab and international organizations and institutions, in light of the alarming escalation of hunger and the widening armed conflict since April 2023. The statement called for an end to foreign intervention, respect for Sudan’s sovereignty, and the adoption of all necessary security, political, and legal measures and agreements. We also handed a copy of the solidarity appeal to the Sudanese Ambassador to Jordan, Hassan Saleh Siwar Al-Dahab, during a meeting with him.
- APN Chairperson Razan Zuayter warned that the crime of ecocide is being inflicted in Gaza alongside the genocide against its people, during her address at the “Covenant for Jerusalem” Conference, held in Istanbul from 5–8 December 2025. She affirmed that the systematic destruction of the environment and food systems has become an integral component of the war machinery.
- We took part in the International Humanitarian Aid Summit for Gaza, organised by the Turkish Religious Foundation in Istanbul, which brought together representatives from over 30 countries and nearly 350 organisations working in relief and humanitarian sectors. We presented our 'Zero Delay' approach where we aim to mobilise international support for our Revive Gaza's Farmland project as we were the only organisation at the summit that spoke specfically to food security and food sovereignty.
- We spoke the roundtable meetings of the newly launched Council of Presidents and Rebuilding Leaders, a collaborative alliance aimed at strengthening coordinated humanitarian action in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, and other regions in urgent need.
- We also spoke at the People’s Conference for Palestinian Solidarity in Canada, organised by a coalition of movements and organisations committed to supporting Palestinian rights, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, Guelph 4 Palestine, and Students for Justice in Palestine, bringing together over 400 participants.
- The Creative Kids Center recently staged a vibrant play titled “Through the Ages”, taking audiences on an exciting journey through human history – from the earliest civilisations to today’s digital era. Part of the ticket proceeds was allocated to support the Revive Gaza’s Farmland project
- We spoke at the solidarity session titled “From Rome to Home”, organised by the Agroecology and Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA), brought together activists, experts and civil society to discuss food security and food sovereignty in the context of ongoing crises, with a particular focus on Palestine.
- We presented an update on the latest achievements of the Revive Gaza’s Farmland project at a meeting organized by entrepreneur Dana Al-Hanbali for a group of influential figures from several Arab countries, aimed at networking and exchanging ideas to implement initiatives that address basic needs in Gaza.
