ECOSOC is one of the six main organs of the United Nations, and the central platform for fostering debate and innovative thinking to advance economic and social development, and environmental sustainability. ECOSOC granted APN special consultative status to actively engage with ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies.

- APN was one of the main speakers at the 2017 High Level Political Forum at the UN House in a side event on food insecurity in times of crises and conflict.
- In 2016, APN organized a side event on “Addressing Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises,” at the ECOSOC High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, in New York. Speakers attended the meeting from the CFS Secretariat, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, Al-Haq, UNEP and ESCWA.
